When the British leave an area they’ve occupied they have never, in the History of the Earth, left it in any better state then when they began to occupy it. Case in point: Basra. Many people are blaming Prime Minister Maliki for his dumbfounded and ongoing expedition into southern Iraq; blaming him for not anticipating the recoil of violence from the South’s entrenched militias.
Well in fact how could he have anticipated such violence. Prime Minister Muppets was under the impression that the British had retreated from Basra because every thing down-under was going just cheeky, as I’m sure the Brits would frame it. Little did Muppets know that the British had just made peace with the militias and handed over all the Souths more wealthier industries, like the port, to the militias so they could ‘manage them’ in the ‘Iraqi way.’
Little did Prime Minister Muppets Maliki know that when he diverted his attention to the South he would find an area that was not under government control, but rather the government was either corrupt beyond all recognition or sat around and did nothing while the militias ran the roads. Even though the British were like ‘nope everything is fine in Basra.’ Muppets is now like ‘umm no you dumb accented fools everything isn’t fine.’
So, don’t blame Maliki, blame the British for not doing what they went into Southern Iraq to do.
BTW, Muppets is not his formal name, but I’m sure that’s what our most honored and venerable President Bush calls him.
